Facebook woman who plotted Wakefield riot in court

A 19-YEAR-OLD woman who is accused of posting Facebook messages encouraging rioting in Wakefield was told today her case would have to be heard at a crown court.

Magistrates heard how Hollie Bentley was arrested after she allegedly posted messages on the social networking site on August 9.

She appeared at Wakefield magistrates’ court today charged with creating an event - “Wakey Riot” - on the social networking site intending to encourage or assist violent disorder.

Wearing black clothes and sporting black hair, petite Bentley told the court she did not want to indicate a plea.

Chairman of the bench Jan Hudson said the case was too serious for magistrates to deal with and said it would be committed to the crown court.

Bentley will appear again at Wakefield Magistrates Court on September 21.

She was given unconditional bail.
