Family’s appeal to find pensioner’s stolen watch

The bereaved family of a 92-year-old burglary victim hope the public can help locate sentimental property stolen from his home over Christmas.

Thieves entered the home of pensioner David Dinsdale in Monteney Road, Sheffield, where he lived alone, between December 21 and 28. They stole a gold-coloured Rolex Tudor Geneva watch, a 32 inch Samsung LCD television and personal paperwork in his name.

Mr Dinsdale died last month for unrelated reasons and his family are keen to recover the watch, which they say has high sentimental value.

The watch has a brown leather strap, an ivory/cream-coloured round face and has words similar to this etched on the rear: “25 years service at Hall and Pickles Ltd to David L. DINSDALE” or “D.L. DINSDALE”

Detective Sergeant Shaf Rehman, from Ecclesfield CID, said: “To have valuable or sentimental property stolen is difficult enough for any individual or family but this case is particularly tragic with the sad news that David has since passed away.

“If anyone has been offered for sale, been sold or knows the location of the stolen property, especially the watch, I urge them to get in touch so we can reunite items with David‘s family and give them a small crumb of comfort at this difficult time.”
