Family's call for '˜justice' for Bradford car park murder victim

Yesterday police announced a further arrest in the murder enquiry of Peter Burns, 54, who died on Tuesday after the incident outside the Queen Hotel in Fairweather Green on Saturday.

The family of My Burns said: “As a family, we are absolutely devastated and heartbroken at the loss of our dad and brother. He was a loving grandad to his beautiful grandchildren and was loved by so many.

“His loss is felt greatly by us all and our lives have been changed forever by this shocking tragedy.

“A night out with friends resulted in us losing somebody so special in our lives and we will never be the same again.

“As a family we plead for anyone with information to please come forward, so we can have justice for Peter.”

Police were called to reports of a fight in the car park shortly after 11.30pm on Saturday.

Paramedics found a 54-year-old Mr Burns outside the pub with a head injury. He was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary where he died on Tuesday.

Police launched a murder investigation.

Four men, aged 20, 22, 33 and 49, all from the Bradford area, were arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident and have been released on bail.

A fifth man, 29, also from Bradford, was arrested on Monday.

A sixth man, aged 22 and from Bradford, was arrested on Wednesday night on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.

In addition, the 22-year-old man from Bradford who was originally arrested and bailed has been re-arrested on suspicion of murder after police received new information.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Ian Scott, said: “We would like to thank the public for their response to our appeals and are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to Mr Burns’ death.”
