Fire crews called after cow 'falls into Leeds to Liverpool canal'

Fire crews were called out on Sunday - after a cow fell into the Leeds and Liverpool canal.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue were called shortly after 12pm to reports of the cow's fall in Low Bradley.

The Skipton crew responded to the call.

On arrival however, the crew discovered the cow had managed to get itself back onto dry land and no action was required.

In York, fire crews also attended a home after reports of a cat being stuck 40 foot up a tree.

The cat had been up the tree for around 36 hours, the incident log stated.

Crews used ladders and fall arrest equipment.

Arthur the ginger cat was safely returned to his owner after being rescued.
