Officers found the birds of prey dead in a hole on the edge of Bransdale on the North York Moors following intelligence back in April, with subsequent x-ray examinations showing shots in four of them.

It comes after North Yorkshire Police issued news earlier this week that a buzzard had been found poisoned near to Pateley Bridge. The bird was seen falling from a tree and veterinary examinations found four different pesticides in its body.

Eight people have been questioned under caution over the North York Moors incident.

All birds of prey are protected by law, and it is a crime to intentionally kill, injure, or take any wild bird.

North Yorkshire Police is continuing to appeal for any information on the shootings.
