Force’s pledge to county’s veterans

SOUTH Yorkshire Police will today launch a covenant committing the force to helping veterans make the transition to civilian life.

Deputy Chief Constable Andy Holt will be joined by councils, NHS and the Army to launch the Armed Forces Community Covenant.

It is designed to complement the existing Military Covenant introduced in 2000 to refer to the mutual obligations between the nation and its Armed Forces

Mr Holt said police would be “signposting the veterans we come across, some of whom are experiencing real hardships, to the appropriate services or charity”.
