Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a suspected shooting in a North Yorkshire village.

The 58-year-old victim, who has not been named, died in hospital after suffering serious injuries to his chest in Carlin How in the borough of Redcar at 4.30pm on Friday.

Cleveland Police said the injuries were believed to have been caused by a firearm.

Three men aged 31, 32 and 35 and a woman aged 32 have been arrested and are being held in custody while inquiries continue.

Investigators are urging anyone who has any information about the incident, which took place on Brotton Road, to contact them on 101 quoting 136570.
