Four in court accused of blackmailing North Yorkshire farmer

Three men and a woman are due in court tomorrow accused of blackmailing a 52-year-old farmer from Richmondshire in North Yorkshire.

The alleged offence occurred between August 23 and September 9, according to North Yorkshire Police.

The force’s Major Crime Unit launched a large-scale and country-wide investigation, which led to the arrests and blackmail charges against three men and a woman.

The suspects were named as Christy Stokes, 44, from Micheldever, Hampshire, and Dennis McGinley, 35, Bernard McGinley, 24, and Bianca Broadway, 30, all from Little Denice, Fivehead, Taunton, Somerset.

All four appeared at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court on September 11, charged with blackmail. They were remanded in custody and the case was committed to Teesside Crown Court in Middlesbrough tomorrow.
