Four in hospital after gang stab fight erupts on Hawksworth, Leeds, estate

POLICE are investigating a gang fight in Leeds which put four men in hospital, two with serious stab wounds.

The fracas broke out at 8pm on Tuesday in the Lea Farm area of the Hawksworth estate in west Leeds.

Police arrived to find four men hurt. The stab wounds are described as serious but not life-threatening. Two of the injured are 25, two are 26. They were taken to hospital. One has been discharged.

A 22 year-old man has been arrested and is in custody. Further arrests are expected.

Det Insp Andy Welbourn of North West Leeds Division police said: “This was a disturbing incident which has resulted in some very serious injuries.

“It took place in the area of Lea Farm Place, Lea Farm Drive and Lea Farm Close and will have been very noticeable to people in the area.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation to contact us immediately, either directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

“Violent incidents of this nature understandably cause concern in the community and we simply will not tolerate it. We are carrying out enquiries to trace all those involved in the incident and expect to make further arrests.”

Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team are maintaining a high-visibility presence in the area to re-assure residents.
