Fresh appeal for information over "violent" Hull assault

Police have made a new appeal for witnesses after a man was left with serious facial fractures following an assault in Hull.

They now want to trace a couple eating a chocolate orange who chatted to the victim before the attack took place and a passer by and a taxi driver who gave first aid afterwards.

Humberside Police say the 39-year-old man was assaulted by a known man near to the Jet Garage on Princes Avenue, Hull at around 2.15am on Saturday March 18.

A spokesperson said: "Our enquiries have also identified another possible witness who came to the aid of the victim after he had been assaulted. We are keen to trace the man in question who raised the alarm with a nearby taxi office that the victim had been injured. This witness along with a member of staff from the taxi office attended to the victim and even gave an item of his clothing to him to place over his wounds. "

Detective Sergeant Justin Marrow added: “We would really like to speak to this man and urge him to contact police as he may be able to help our investigation. This was a violent assault which has left a man requiring significant medical treatment and a lengthy period of recovery.”
