Felix James Bradley, 22, will be sentenced next month for stealing £4,900 from an 87-year-old woman.

Bradley, of Thoresby Road, York, worked as a carer for elderly people, carrying out home visits to provide support and help with cleaning, cooking and hygiene, North Yorkshire Police said.

Officers were contacted in January after the victim’s daughter spotted a number of cash withdrawals from her mother’s account over a two-month period.

Bradley took the money from cash machines using the victim’s bank card.

Police found that the victim would not have been able to use cash machines due to a disability.

Officers confirmed that Bradley admitted fraud by false representation at York Crown Court on Friday.

Pc Ray Milligan said: “This man was placed in a position of trust to take care of the most vulnerable people in society and he went on to blatantly abuse that trust out of pure greed and selfishness.

“I would like to thank the victim’s daughter and the care providers for their help and assistance during the investigation which helped provide the evidence needed to bring Bradley to justice.

“I hope this case sends a clear message to anyone else who believes they can take advantage of vulnerable people - it will not be tolerated in a civilised society.

“We will catch you and do everything in our power to ensure you are brought to justice and feel the full force of the law.”

Bradley will be sentenced at York Crown Court on September 2.
