A man who sustained fatal gunshot wounds in what police believe was a targeted attack has been named.
Grant Bodell, 23, of Sheffield, was fatally injured on waste ground off Queen Mary Road in the Manor area of Sheffield at around 2.20am on Saturday.
He was taken to hospital but died a short time later. A post-mortem examination found that he died of gunshot wounds.
District Commander for Sheffeld, Chief Supt David Hartley, said he believed Mr Bodell’s death was an isolated incident.
He said: “Although we are in the very early stages of this investigation and are very much keeping an open mind as to the circumstances, we do believe that this was a targeted attack and that members of the public should not be unduly alarmed.
“I would also like to appeal to the community for information. If anyone knows something about this tragic incident, however apparently insignificant that information is, I would urge them to call South Yorkshire Police immediately on 101.
“Let us be the judge of how significant the information you hold is.”
