Hull teenager told to prepare for prison after throwing bleach in model’s face

Rebecca Morris, 18, admitted throwing the bleach at 17-year-old Victoria Smith at an earlier hearing at Hull Crown Court.

Miss Smith, who goes by the modelling name of Toria Melody, suffered injuries to her eyes and body in the attack.

Morris, from Hull, was due to be sentenced but the case was adjourned for further investigations. Judge David Tremberg told Morris she would be sentenced on February 23.

He said: “You should prepare yourself for the very real possibility of an immediate custodial sentence.”

Stephen Welch, prosecuting, told the court Morris had pleaded guilty to “applying a corrosive liquid” to Miss Smith.

Mr Welch said: “The complainant describes a serious physical and psychological impact as a result of this incident.”

The court heard Miss Smith had made a “full physical recovery” since the attack. But Judge Tremberg read a paragraph from Miss Smith’s victim impact statement, which states that doctors said she had permanent damage in both eyes.

The attack happened in August last year when Miss Smith was leaving a party in Hull.

Writing on Facebook at the time, Miss Smith said: “One of my eyes is now physically impaired and I am blind in (it), I will most likely never receive my vision in my right eye again.

“The outer layer of my eyes are permanently damaged and my hair has turned green from the bleach and has fallen out at the front. I have burns on my body from all the chemicals inside the bleach. I am in excruciating pain in my eyes as the ph in them was above 10.

Judge Tremberg also urged members of the Press to show restraint after Miss Smith said the media had made her situation “much more difficult” by “hounding” her since the attack.
