Hunt for burglar who was confronted by victim during Todmorden house raid

Detectives in Calderdale have released an Efit image of a man they want to speak to in connection with a distraction burglary where he was confronted by the victim during the raid. 

The incident occurred at a property in Garden Street, Todmorden on January 6 this year, at around 3pm. 

The male suspect approached the home of the victim and he told her that he had been working on the neighbour’s gutters and also her some cheap carpets for sale.

She said she had to speak to her family and asked him to leave. 

A short time later, the victim found the same suspect in the hallway of her house and she ushered him out. She discovered he had forced entry to the kitchen window and some of her jewellery had been stolen. 

Detective Constable Graham Bennett, of Halifax CID, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim and we hope that by releasing this image, we will be able to capture the perpetrator.”
