Inquest hears how Bradford couple died in house of horror

A MAN who died in a suspected murder-suicide in Bradford was discovered with a stab wound in a bath after his partner was found covered in a blood-stained sheet, an inquest heard.

Guida Rufino, 38, and Anthony Roberts, 37, were found dead at their home after a worried neighbour contacted police over concerns about a domestic incident at the house.

An inquest opening heard Ms Rufino, who was a director for an occupational health company, was found dead at their house in Idle, Bradford, by police under a blood-stained sheet in the living room.

Mr Roberts, who had suffered a stab wound to his leg, was found upstairs in the bath following the incident on January 31, the court heard.

Detective Inspector Paul Conroy told the hearing at Bradford Coroner’s Court: “At approximately 6:23pm on Sunday 31 January police received a call from a neighbour.

“On arrival a lady had come from number one and reported a domestic incident at that location.

“Officer attended the address and knocked at the door. Hearing no answer and finding the property secured they forced their way in.

“When they arrived in the living room they found Guida covered with a blood-stained white sheet. She was found to be dead.

“They then conducted a search of the premises. Police went upstairs and found Mr Roberts in the bath.

“He had a stab wound to his leg. Officers thought he had a pulse.

“They pulled him from the bath and attempted CPR.”

Insp Conroy told the court Ms Rufino and Mr Roberts had been together for four or five years.

He added: “They had a child together. They had been living at the address since the child was born.”

Insp Conroy said officers had ruled out any third party being responsible for Ms Rufino’s death.

He said: “A this stage we are still at an early stage of the inquiry but we are not looking for any other party.”

Asked by the coroner Martin Fleming if he believed Mr Roberts’ wound was self-inflicted, DI Conroy said: “Yes.”

Mr Fleming asked if anyone else had been involved in causing the injuries that led to Anthony’s death.

Insp Conroy said:”In terms of Mr Roberts there is no third party involvement.”

The coroner adjourned the inquest until May 31.
