Leeds bus station closed all day after woman is stabbed

POLICE have closed Leeds City bus station after a woman was stabbed and seriously injured there this morning.

Officers were called at around 11.30am following a report of a 20-year-old woman having been stabbed inside the bus station. She has been taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident, and enquiries into the incident are being carried out by City and Holbeck CID.

These enquiries include a detailed forensic examination of the scene of the incident within the bus station. As a result, the bus station will be closed temporarily while this is carried out.

Commuters are asked to try to catch their buses from the next stop on their route or use alternative transport.

At this stage the bus station may be closed beyond the rush hour, although further updates will be available later today.
