Jordan Stapleton, 21, was shot dead at his home on Beckhill Chase, Meanwood, on the night of April 16 as his four-year-old son slept upstairs.

West Yorkshire Police said specialist teams had been carrying out searches of the area of woodland off Beckhill Avenue after receiving information on Monday.

They discovered the shotgun on Wednesday night.

“We will be consulting forensic and ballistics experts to establish whether the gun is connected to the shooting.”
