Leeds: Shamed ex-policeman admits child sex charges

A FORMER West Yorkshire Police officer who resigned over child porn convictions has now admitted a series of sex offences against children.

Christopher Snow, 25, pleaded guilty to eight offences of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity when he appeared at Leeds Crown Court.

The offences were committed against girls aged 12, 13 and 14.

Snow, of Moor Road, Headingley, Leeds, also admitted 10 charges of making indecent phtographs of children, one of possessing indecent photographs of children and breaching a sexual offences prevention order.

The court heard he was found in possession of 642 indecent images, 46 of which were rated at level four, the second most serious category.

The breach of the sexual offences prevention order relates to him having a camera on his mobile phone when prohibited from doing do.

The case was adjourned for psychiatric and pre-sentence reports and Snow will be sentenced next month.

He was granted bail but judge Roger Ibbotson warned Snow that all sentencing options, including jail, were to be considered.

In 2006, Snow was spared jailed by magistrates after pleading guilty to eight offences involving making and possessing indecent images of children.

The offences covered the period October 2004 to December 2005.

Snow served with West Yorkshire Police but resigned when those charges were brought against him.

They involved 895 indecent photographs and a number of movie clips being discovered on two computers.

Magistrates were told 61 of the images were at level five, which can involve incidents depicting bestiality, and 28 were at level four, which includes images involving children and adults.

The ages of the girls ranged from three to 14 and some of the pictures involved bondage scenarios with girls being tied to chairs in an indecent manner.

In one disturbing photograph a girl aged over 11 was pictured with a carving knife above her genitals.

He was jailed for six months, suspended for two years, and given 200 hours of un-paid work.

He was also placed under a supervision order for two years and be required to register with the police as a sex offender for seven years.
