Leeds stabbing: Man held for murder

DETECTIVES investigating the death of a teenager stabbed in a Leeds street have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

A 27-year-old man from the Woodhouse area of Leeds is being quizzed by police on suspicion of the murder of 17- year-old Kieran Lee Butterworth.

The teenager died following an incident on Back Seaforth Road in Harehills yesterday afternoon.

Police were called at 12.41pm yesterday following reports that a man had been stabbed in the street near to the junction of Back Seaforth Avenue and Foundry Approach.

Kieran was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he died a short time later.

A post mortem found he died as a result of multiple stab wounds to his chest.

Today, the area around Back Seaforth Avenue and Foundry Approach remains cordoned off while the scene examined.

Murder detectives are appealing for anyone who is yet to come forward to contact police.
