Leeds woman in 'toxic' relationship stabbed partner in back

A woman stabbed her boyfriend in the back with a kitchen knife after an alcohol-fuelled row, a court heard.

Carly Allotey's 32-year-old victim feared for his life and suffered a knife wound to his right lung and a cut to his liver, Leeds Crown Court heard,

Prosecutor, Bashir Ahmed said Allotey, aged 29, of Rydal Drive, Morley, and her partner had been in a "tempestuous" relationship for more than ten years.

The court heard there had been 13 previous domestic call outs to the couple's home with both Allotey and her partner interchanging as victim or aggressor.

Mr Ahmed said the couple's neighbours had made a number of complaints about anti-social behaviour after arguments between the couple.

The court heard at 3pm On New Year's Eve, Allotey and her partner went to his aunt and uncle's house.

Mr Ahmed said the couple drank lager and vodka through the day and into the night before returning home in the early hours when Allotey started shouting at him.

Mr Ahmed said Allotey hit her partner in the head before picking up a knife and stabbing him in the back with it.

He bled heavily and collapsed on the doorstep before managing to walk away.

Mr Ahmed said a neighbour saw the stab victim laid in their front garden.

Mr Ahmed said Allotey called an ambulance, adding: "She told the operator 'he has been stabbed' and said 'it's all my fault.'

"The defendant, in interview, said when they both got home they started to argue during which he kicked the living room door to the floor.

"She later said she had stabbed him because he had punched her and her head just went."

The court heard Allotey's partner did not want her to be prosecuted.

Allotey, who has no previous convictions, admitted wounding.

Susannah Proctor, mitigating, said: "She is incredibly remorseful."

Judge Robin Mairs said Allotey and her partner had a "toxic relationship."

Judge Mairs handed Allotey a 21-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months and ordered her to take part in a six-month alcohol treatment programme plus 30 rehabilitation activity days.
