Detectives have arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with the attacks in the south west of the city this week where cars had acid thrown at them.

South Yorkshire Police said there had been "a series of incidents" on Carter Knowle Road and Montrose Road in Nether Edge where vehicles were damaged.

Sergeant James Marshall from the Sheffield South West Neighbourhood Team said: “We are continuing to appeal for information about these incidents, which I know have caused real concern in the area.

“As well as the arrest made yesterday, we have seized a significant amount of materials, including CCTV footage, that we will now be reviewing as part of the investigation.

“I would continue to appeal to anyone who has information to contact us, especially people living on these roads who might have CCTV footage of the incidents. Even small bits of footage could help us with our enquiries.”

The 29-year-old has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
