The 45-year-old woman was found injured after emergency services were called to the property on Castlebeck Drive in the Manor area of the city shortly after 6am this morning (Wednesday).

Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police said her death was being treated as suspicious and confirmed a 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.

A post-mortem examination to determine cause of death is expected to be held later today, and formal identification has not yet taken place.

There remained a heightened police presence in the Castlebeck Drive area on Wednesday while officers carried out their investigation.
