A man was attacked by a hammer wielding gang after a car race in Leeds.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Holme Wood, Bradford on Monday, April 27.

Officers were called at about 3.40pm to woodland off Scholebrook Lane in Holmewood Bradford.

A man in his 20s was found with serious injuries.

He had been attacked with hammers.

He was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not considered life threatening.

The suspects are believed to have been racing cars in Pudsey before the attack.

Police said that they were driving a red Mitsubishi Shogun car, and are thought to have been racing another red vehicle around Black Carr Woods.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the vehicle driving in the area or saw it racing another vehicle to contact police.

The Shogun has since been recovered by officers.
