Man charged with murder of woman

A MAN was due in court today charged with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in Leeds.

The 30-year-old was charged yesterday after an investigation by West Yorkshire Police that started early on Monday.

Officers were called to an address on Conway View in the city by a call saying a woman had been found dead there.

Paramedics pronounced the 29-year-old woman dead at the scene.

She was later identified as Kat marie McHugh, who lived in Leeds, and a post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death was strangulation.

Police arrested two people who were occupants of the house, a 30-year-old man and a woman aged 34, on suspicion of murder.

They were held in police custody overnight and yesterday police confirmed that the 30-year-old man had been charged with murder.

He is expected before Leeds Magistrates for his first court appearance this morning.
