Man dies after being found seriously injured at South Yorkshire home

Police have launched a murder investigation as a man left in a critical condition after being injured at a house in Barnsley has died.

Paramedics were called to the address on Monsal Street in the village of Thurnscoe on Thursday, where the 46-year-old was found seriously injured.

The victim, who police have not yet named, was taken to hospital and deteriorated into a critical condition. He sadly died of his injuries yesterday (Sunday).

His family have been notified and are receiving support from specially-trained officers.

South Yorkshire Police are now investigating the crime as a murder.

Two men, aged 31 and 41-years-old, have been arrested on suspicion of assault. Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The force is continuing to appeal for information about the circumstances surrounding how the man came to be injured.
