Man held in Leeds over shooting of 12 year-old Dutch boy

A MAN has been arrested in Leeds over the violent murder of a 12 year-old Dutch boy as he sat alone in a caravan.

Police arrested the 29 year-old, who is currently in prison in connection with another violent offence, on behalf of Netherlands authorities.

A second Englishman has been arrested in Amsterdam over the killing of Danny Gubbles at a trailer camp last July.

Police described the shooting, in a caravan in Breda, south Holland, as “extremely violent”. At least 10 bullet holes were discovered in the caravan.

Rounds from automatic weapons were fired and up to seven people were seen running away after the shooting.

It is thought the killing may have taken place as a result of a “business conflict” over drugs.

The Leeds arrest was made on a European Arrest Warrant and an extradition to the Netherlands has been requested.

West Yorkshire Police officers assisted in the arrest along with those from the Serious Organised Crime Agency.

A spokesman for the Agency said: “Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the perpetrators were seeking redress in connection with a business conflict.”

The killing sparked a public outcry and more than 900 people attended Danny’s funeral, with a procession led by a Harley Davidson motor bike.
