Man held over South Yorkshire pensioner attack is freed

A man arrested over a serious attack on a pensioner in his home has been released without charge.

The 80-year-old victim was taken to hospital after he was found collapsed at his house in Maltby, near Rotherham, on Friday.

He was yesterday in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Three men, two aged 19 and a 23-year-old and all from the local area, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 23-year-old has now been released with no further action. The two teenagers were yesterday in custody and being questioned by police.
