Man kicked to the floor in one of two robberies in an hour in Wakefield

A MAN was kicked to the floor in one of two street robberies within a hour of each other in the same area of Wakefield.

Detectives are appealing for information after the incidents on Doncaster Road in the early hours of Saturday morning. 

In the first, which happened at around 3.05am, a 23-year-old man was kicked to floor by one man and hit in the face by another as they stole his mobile phone close to the junction with Sugar Lane.

The first suspect is described as white male, late 20s to early 30s, of slim build with short blonde/brown hair and wearing dark jeans and a blue zip up jacket. The second suspect is described as a white male and medium build.

The second incident happened around an hour later at 4:.9am, when two 22-year-old men were walking over Chantry Bridge and were approached outside the Hepworth Gallery and assaulted and a mobile phone was stolen. 

They were described as white males, around 5ft 8” to 5ft 10” and average build. Anyone with information is asked to call Wakefield CID via 101.
