Man killed by punch in nightclub

A MAN has died after being felled by a single punch in a nightclub brawl.

The 38-year-old fell to the floor at the Maine Street nightclub, inside Liquid, in Commercial Street, Halifax, and could not be revived despite the efforts of paramedics. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It happened at about 2.20am yesterday after the victim was involved in an “exchange of words” with a group of men, West Yorkshire Police said. Police believe the man who threw the punch probably did not realise what had happened.

Det Chief Insp Nick Wallen said: “We believe this man left the venue almost immediately afterwards, so he will probably not know the outcome of his actions. That is why I am appealing for him and any other witnesses to this incident to come forward and help the police with their inquiries.”

Witnesses are urged to call West Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
