Man in serious condition in hospital after crash which closed M62

A man remains in a serious condition in hospital after a crash which closed the M62 for several hours.

It happened at about 5.20pm on Wednesday, June 18 between Junction 28 Tingley and Junction 29 Lofthouse.

A silver Mitsubishi Lancer was travelling westbound when it crashed with the central reservation barrier.

The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, received medical assistance by members of the public and an off duty police officer.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The motorway was closed for several hours while the emergency services attended.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who witnessed the vehicle driving in the area prior to the collision to contact police.
