Man is shot in the foot at Leeds playground

POLICE are appealing for information after a 56-year-old man was shot in the foot during a disturbance at children’s playground in Leeds last night.

Officers were called to the park that runs alongside Savile Drive in Chapeltown at 7.20pm following reports that groups of men were fighting in the area. On arrival the men had dispersed

A short time later a man turned up at hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot.

The man remains in hospital today but his injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

An area around the park and the junction between Chapeltown Road and Saville Drive remain cordoned off this morning while forensic examination of the scene continues. No arrests have yet been made.
