Man stabbed at countryside barbecue near Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales

A man from Manchester who had travelled to the Yorkshire Dales for a group barbecue has been stabbed.

The Manchester group were gathered at Barden Bridge, near Bolton Abbey, on Thursday evening when an altercation broke out at around 8pm.

It is believed the attacker and the victim knew each other.

The victim, in his 30s, had driven from Manchester for a barbecue at the beauty spot with friends.

He suffered serious knife injuries and drove himself to hospital where he continues to receive treatment today. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives believe it was an isolated incident and have arrested a man in his 20s from Manchester.

He currently remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
