Man suffers brain injury after incident at Bridlington pub

A 61-year-old man is in a critical condition after suffering a serious brain injury outside a Bridlington pub.

It is alleged that a 61-year-old man intervened to stop a domestic assault continuing between a man and woman outside the Half Moon Pub on Prospect Street just before 4pm on Saturday November 7.

During the man’s attempts to mediate, he came into contact with the pavement and sustained a serious head injury.

An ambulance was called and he was sedated before being given medical treatment at Scarborough Hospital.

Humberside Police officers are urging anyone who witnessed the assault to come forward.

Craig Smith, 29, of Field Road, Bridlington was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts of assault by beating against two separate people.

Glen Smith, 55, of Field Road, Bridlington, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating.

Both men were transferred to Hull Magistrates Court today (November 9).

A 31-year-old Bridlington woman was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in a public place during the incident, and following several warnings was arrested and later issued a penalty notice for disorder.
