Man suffers serious facial injuries in Wakefield assault

A 23-year-old man suffered serious facial injuries after being punched to the side of the head in Wakefield.

The man was walking past a takeaway on Westgate when he was assaulted by an unknown suspect.

He was treated at Pinderfields hospital after the incident, which took place at around 5am on Tuesday, September 22.

PC Paul Starbuck, of Wakefield Police, said: “There were people around at the time of the incident, some of which helped the victim, and I would appeal to them to come forward, as it is possible they witnessed the assault and may be able to help identify those responsible.”

Enquiries are ongoing.
