Man's body is found near Scarborough

Officers searching for missing Gary Sheffield were called to an area near the Hayburn Wyke Hotel, in Cloughton, near Scarborough, just before 6.40pm yesterday.

A member of the public who had been out walking discovered the body of a man aged approximately 50-years-old.

Officers and paramedics attended and confirmed the discovery. The scene was secured and examined and it was established that there were no suspicious circumstances.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said Mr Sheffield’s family has been informed and investigations continue.

Police are not yet in a position to confirm the identity of the deceased.
