Masked burglars tie up elderly couple in Harrogate

THREE burglars tied up an elderly couple in their Harrogate home before escaping with cash and jewellery.

The trio men broke into a house on South Park Road, between 6.15pm and 7pm last night.

Two of the men were wearing masks and over faces. After tying up the occupants they stole around £200 in cash and some jewellery.

Once the men had left the property, the victims managed to untie themselves and contacted their daughter who called the police.

The victims suffered minor injuries to their hands and wrists in the incident.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the South Park Road area of Harrogate on Tuesday evening to get in touch.

Det Inspector Bill Burns of Harrogate police, said: “Fortunately, the victims in this incident were not seriously hurt, however they have been left shaken by the experience.

“Investigations are underway to try and identify the people responsible, and I am urging the public to get in touch if they have any information which can help our enquiries.

“If you saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the South Park Road area of Harrogate on Tuesday evening I urge you to get in touch.
