Masked raider steals cash in armed robbery

A man wearing a balaclava carried out an armed robbery in the Scawthorpe area of Doncaster, police said today.

Officers were alerted to a report that a masked man had gone into the Co-op supermarket on Crosslands Way and threatened a member of staff with a knife at around 10pm on Saturday.

He demanded the till was opened and he stole cash before leaving.

Det Cons Steve Ramsbottom, the investigating officer said: “Fortunately the member of staff was not injured however they are understandably very distressed by the incident.

“We would appeal to anyone who was in or around the shop at the time or saw or heard anything suspicious to get in touch.”

The raider is described as 6ft, of slim build, wearing a grey jumper and light blue jacket.
