Mother and baby injured in hit and run tractor crash near Northallerton

Police are trying to trace the driver of a tractor which collided with a car before fleeing the scene.

A woman driving a Volvo C30 and her 18-month-old baby were injured when the tractor struck the car on a country road last night.

They were driving along Northallerton Road in Leeming Bar when the farm vehicle, which was towing a trailer, collided with them.

The tractor driver did not stop.

The accident happened at 7.25pm on Wednesday evening.

The mother and child both attended hospital but were not seriously hurt.

Police are appealing for the driver of the tractor to come forward and for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or either vehicle in the area at this time to contact them.
