Murder inquiry as bag-snatch victim, 89, dies

DETECTIVES in West Yorkshire launched a murder investigation last night after an 89-year-old woman died following a street robbery.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after Jean Myers had her bag grabbed in Gomersal at 1.54pm yesterday.

She was reportedly attacked by a man who made off with her handbag and left her with serious head injuries.

She was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary where she later died.

The pensioner was robbed on Quarry Road near to the junction of Oxford Road.

West Yorkshire Police said inquiries were ongoing and a man aged 26 and a 25-year-old woman who were arrested on suspicion of murder remained in custody.
