Murder investigation after man dies in disturbance

Police this afternoon have launched a murder investigation after a 39-year-old man died at an address on Sewerby Road, Bridlington.

They had an anonymous call at 4.25am this morning about a disturbance at the address.

The victim, who was unconscious, had received a life-threatening wound and died despite efforts by paramedics at the scene.

Police officers were sent to look for a car seen leaving the address and it was stopped with four men inside at Seaton, near Hornsea, shortly after 5am.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

A 27-year-old, a 22-year-old, a 37-year-old are being held and a 47-year-old who is currently receiving treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary for injuries sustained during the incident this morning.

Officers investigating the incident are seeking to reassure local residents that the disturbance was confined to the address on Sewerby Road and there is not thought to be any risk to the wider community.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Specially trained officers are supporting the victim’s family.

A post mortem is taking place later today.

A cordon is in place at the address while enquiries continue.

Police said they had a number of witnesses to the disturbance but are appealing for anyone else to contact them on 101.
