Detective Chief Inspector Steve Snow, from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET), said that a 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently detained under police guard at hospital.

DCI Snow added: “He also suffered stab wounds in the incident, but these are not considered to be life-threatening.

“While incidents like this are understandably disturbing for those living locally I would like to reassure people that there is no wider danger to members of the public and neighbourhood officers are in the area offering support and reassurance to local residents.”

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact police via 101.
