Murder squad police seal off Barnsley street

MURDER squad police have sealed off a street in Barnsley following the death of a 29-year-old man this morning.

Officers were called to Colley Crescent in Kendray after an overnight disturbance. The victim, named locally as Sammy Haughton, was treated by paramedics at 2am today but died shortly afterwards. It is believed he had been stabbed.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police are now investigating a murder in Kendray, Barnsley.

“Colley Crescent is currently sealed off whilst scene of crime officers undertake a detailed examination.”

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
