North Yorkshire Police have issued a CCTV image of the man they want to speak to in connection with the incident at St Aidan’s High School on Oatlands Drive on Tuesday.

The man entered the school around 10.15am and refused to leave when he was asked to do so by a member of staff. He was escorted from the property a short time later.

He did not approach or speak to any of the pupils at the school, police say.

The man is described as white, aged around 30, with light brown hair and having “a chubby face”. At the time of the incident he was wearing a blue shirt and jeans and carrying a black holdall.

Pc Andy Hanson, of North Yorkshire Police’s Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “There may be a perfectly innocent reason that the man entered the school. If this is the case, I urge him to get in touch straight away, so that I can clear the issue up.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who recognises the man and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.”
