Nesting swan wounded after being attacked by dogs in Leeds park

A swan was wounded after being attacked by dogs in Leeds park.

It happened on Saturday, April 25 in Roundhay Park.

The swan was attacked by two dogs.

It was injured in the attack and required dressings to her wounds and antibiotics.

The Yorkshire Swan & Wildlife Rescue Hospital has taken the swan in.

The charity will care for the swan for a week while she recovers.

Her eggs will be looked after by a male swan.

Friends of Roundhay Park said: "The nesting swan on Upper Lake has been taken to Yorkshire Swan & Wildlife Rescue Hospital after being attacked by two dogs.

"She will be there for a week having her wounds dressed and antibiotics.

"Daddy swan is looking after the eggs in the meantime. Thanks to Yorkshire Swan & Wildlife Rescue Hospital for their help!"

Police investigations into the crime are ongoing.

West Yorkshire Police's Leeds Wildlife and Rural Crime Team said investigations into the attack are ongoing.

Officers have asked anyone with information to contact them quoting crime number 13200204480.
