The men entered the house on Chestnut Close at Newsome brandishing weapons and making demands for money from the female occupant who was present with her young son and her friend at the time.
Her son managed to flee the property and alert neighbours but he was followed by one of the suspects and confronted outside the property before they both fled empty-handed in the direction of the local surgery.
