Northallerton police station evacuated in bomb scare

Staff have also been moved out of several buildings nearby as army bomb disposal officers from Catterick make their way to the scene.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being questioned in custody.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Officers are currently dealing with an incident at Northallerton Police Station following the discovery of a suspicious package.

“As a precaution staff have been evacuated from the station as well as from two adjacent buildings. The road outside the station has also been temporarily closed pending the arrival of an army team from Catterick Garrison to check the package

“We would like to reassure local residents and visitors to the town that the incident is being dealt with professionally and the risk to the public is believed to be low.
