Pensioner, 85, dies four days after ‘attack’ at Thirsk home

An 85-year-old man found badly injured at his home in North Yorkshire has died in hospital four days after the incident.

George Francis Kidson, 85, from Sowerby, Thirsk, died yesterday at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

He was found when police attended a property at The Flatts in Sowerby at around 8.20pm on Thursday following a report of a concern for safety.

Ryan Brady Campbell, a 29-year-old local man, was arrested and appeared in Northallerton Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He was charged with attempted murder and theft and will appear at Teeside Crown Court on 23 November 2015.
