Pensioner robbed by bogus callers

POLICE are investigating after a pensioner was robbed at her home by two men.

Officers say a man knocked at the door of the victim’s house in Spring Street, Barnsley, and asked if she would call a taxi for him.

As the woman moved to close the door, a second man tackled her to the floor. The pair stole
 the woman’s handbag before running in the direction of Princess Street. The woman was not injured.

The man who knocked on the door is described as being white, 5ft 9in tall, about 40, with a pale complexion. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black duffel coat with a grey hood pulled up.

The second man is described as wearing a grey hooded top with a black and white checked scarf covering his face. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
