Pensioner woke up to find burglar

A PENSIONER fell asleep watching Wimbledon tennis on television and woke up shocked to find a burglar sitting next to him.

Leeds Crown Court heard Leanne Pearce began stroking the 65-year-old man’s stomach asking him if he “wanted a good time” but then grabbed his wallet from his back pocket and ran.

The wallet contained £90 cash and his credit cards but she was caught on security footage outside the sheltered housing in Harehills, Leeds.

Pearce, 28 of Cross Flatts Avenue, Beeston, Leeds was jailed for 32 months after admitting the burglary only five days after release on licence from her last burglary sentence.

Lyndsay Lobley, for Pearce, said it was a spontaneous offence after she wrongly thought a friend lived there.
