Police appeal over 'distinctive' helmet in Leeds shop robbery

Detectives have released a CCTV image of a distinctive motorbike helmet and rucksack worn by one of two armed robbers who raided a shop in Horsforth.

The men, both wearing motorbike helmets, entered the McColl's store on Broadgate Lane, Horsforth, at about 10pm on Sunday April 23, and threatened staff with what police believe was a handgun and a knife before stealing cash from the safe.

One of the men was wearing a distinctive yellow crash helmet and a patterned rucksack.

* A 21-year-old man, from Leeds, has been charged in connection with the incident. He appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court today (Monday July 17) charged with robbery, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of an offensive weapon. He was remanded in custody until a further hearing.
